If your webshop sells to consumers in other EU countries, you charge the VAT rate of your customer's country and declare it in a single OSS return. This free calculator turns that into numbers: enter your net revenue per country and see the VAT due per country and the quarterly total immediately.

An OSS return means looking up the right rate for every EU country and totalling your revenue separately for each — error-prone handwork across 27 member states. Enter your revenue per country; the calculator knows the rates and works out the VAT due, the total and the threshold for you.

Summary

  • Enter your net revenue per EU country and see the VAT due straight away.
  • The rates of all 27 member states are built in, standard and reduced.
  • Stay under the EU threshold of €10,000 and the tool tells you your own country's rate still applies.
  • Everything runs in your browser; no revenue figure reaches our servers.

Calculating an OSS return for your webshop

Since the EU VAT reform, selling to consumers in other member states means charging the rate of the destination country. One webshop with customers in eight countries therefore applies eight different rates. This calculator brings those rates together and works out what you owe per country, so you can check your OSS return before you file it.

The €10,000 threshold in practice

The EU applies a single threshold across all member states: while your cross-border sales to consumers stay under €10,000 per calendar year, you may keep charging your own country's rate. Once you pass it, the destination rate applies from that sale onwards. The tool flags it as soon as your total stays under that line, so you know you still have a choice.

From a manual table to an automatic return

This calculator asks you to enter revenue per country yourself. That is fine for a check or an estimate, but with hundreds of orders a quarter the retyping is itself the source of error. Winkel Factuur pulls the orders straight from your sales channels, determines the country and rate per order and keeps the OSS summary up to date continuously.

FAQ

What is an OSS return?

Under the One Stop Shop scheme you declare the VAT on all your sales to consumers in other EU countries in a single quarterly return with your own tax authority, instead of registering separately in each country.

Which VAT rate do I charge?

The rate of the country where your customer lives. Selling to a German consumer means charging the German rate of 19% (or the German reduced rate of 7%), not your own.

What happens below the €10,000 threshold?

While your total cross-border sales to consumers within the EU stay under €10,000 per calendar year, you may keep charging your own country's rate. You can opt into OSS voluntarily; above the threshold the destination rate is mandatory.

When is the return due?

The OSS return is quarterly and must be filed by the end of the month following the quarter: 30 April, 31 July, 31 October and 31 January.

Do sales to businesses count?

No. OSS covers sales to consumers. Sales to business customers with a valid VAT number in another member state fall under the reverse charge and do not belong in your OSS return.

Which rate does the tool pick?

By default the standard rate of the country, because most webshop products fall under it. Tick the reduced rate if your products qualify in that country — which rate applies depends on the product category.

Are my figures stored?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. No amount and no country is sent to our servers.

Can Winkel Factuur do this automatically?

Yes. Winkel Factuur reads your orders from bol.com, Amazon, Shopify and WooCommerce, determines the country and rate per order and prepares the OSS summary each quarter, so nothing has to be retyped.
