IBAN Validation for Business Payments
For entrepreneurs, it's crucial to validate IBAN numbers before making payments or sending invoices. Wrong IBANs lead to failed transactions and delayed payments. Our IBAN validator helps you prevent errors by immediately checking if an account number is correct.
Automatic BIC Code Lookup
For international transfers, you often need the BIC code in addition to the IBAN. Our tool automatically looks up the corresponding BIC/SWIFT code when you validate an IBAN. You no longer need to search separately for the correct bank identifier.
Secure IBAN Checking in Your Browser
Privacy comes first with our IBAN validator. All validation happens completely locally in your browser. Your IBAN is not sent to servers or stored in databases. This makes the tool safe to use with sensitive financial data from yourself and your customers.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an IBAN number?
IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number. It is an internationally standardized account number that uniquely identifies bank accounts. A Dutch IBAN consists of 18 characters: NL + 2 check digits + 4 letter bank code + 10 digit account number.
How do I check if an IBAN is valid?
Enter the IBAN number in our validator. The tool checks the length, country code, bank code and checksum. For a valid IBAN, you'll immediately see the confirmation plus the corresponding BIC code and bank name.
What is a BIC code?
BIC (Bank Identifier Code) or SWIFT code identifies a specific bank. For international transfers, you often need both IBAN and BIC. Our tool automatically shows the BIC code for a valid IBAN.
Which countries are supported?
Our IBAN validator supports IBAN numbers from the Netherlands (NL), Belgium (BE), Germany (DE) and France (FR). These are the most commonly used IBANs for European business transactions.
Is the IBAN validation secure?
Yes, completely secure. All validation happens locally in your browser. The IBAN number is not sent to our servers or stored. Your bank details remain private.
What does a Dutch IBAN look like?
A Dutch IBAN has the format NLkk BBBB 0000 0000 00. NL is the country code, kk are the check digits, BBBB is the bank code (e.g. ABNA, INGB, RABO) and then 10 digits of the account number.
Can I check multiple IBANs at once?
The current tool validates one IBAN at a time. For bulk validation of multiple IBANs on invoices, you can use Winkel Factuur, which has automatic IBAN validation built in.
What if my IBAN is invalid?
For an invalid IBAN, the tool shows what's wrong: incorrect length, wrong country code or invalid checksum. Check that you've typed the IBAN correctly and try again.
